Where To Stay - San Luis Obispo
Are you visiting San Luis Obispo and trying to decide where to stay?
Luckily, we’ve visited many times and done the research for you! :)
Here are some of our favorite places that we’ve stayed:
Hotels in SLO
Looking for things to do in San Luis Obispo?
Hotel Cerro
Combining sustainability, luxury, and the perfect location - Hotel Cerro really impressed us with all the small details like the outdoor patio surrounded by greenery, garden wall, edible garden, and dazzling views from the rooftop pool.
All the rooms here are great, of which we picked the garden suite since it had direct access to the edible garden. The edible garden is a a beautiful patch of greenery only accessible by guests and staff. There is a bounty of delicious produce that you can snack on, thus the name ‘Edible Garden’. I absolutely loved picking ripe cherry tomatoes off the vines and eating it with fresh basil.
The room itself was exceptionally large and comfortable, with a huge walk in rainfall shower.
As an avid coffee drinker, I was pleasantly surprised to see a gooseneck water kettle, Hario V60, Hario filters, and delicious pre-ground coffee - everything you need to make specialty level coffee!
As part of the sustainability program, two reusable water bottles are provided along with cold filtered water. You can take the water bottles home - we use them all the time now back home.
That’s not all though - there is a fantastic rooftop pool with beautiful views of the city and the surrounding mountains. It was a great place to unwind after a day of exploration.
They also have one of the best restaurants in town with a focus around local produce and an amazing wood fired oven & grill. The restaurant is called Brasserie SLO - definitely try to have dinner here one of the nights whether you’re a guest or not.
Hotel SLO
Located in the historic Chinatown area of San Luis Obispo, Hotel SLO blends coastal and mid-century modern design with large rooms, each with their own sitting area and outdoor terrace.
When you walk in to the hotel, the first thing you’ll notice is the airy, wide open design of the lobby and sitting areas.
The comfortable pool area is near the outdoor sitting area.
The rooms are comfortable with large walk in showers, free snacks, clothing steamers, and large terraces.
Glass carafes are also provided with still and sparkling water, which you can refill on your own in the hallways for free.
Adorable bikes are provided for free if you want to cruise around town, which you should absolutely should!
There are also two restaurants on site, Piadini and Ox + Anchor, both headed by former French Laundry Chef Ryan Fancher.
Madonna Inn
One of the most famous hotels on the West Coast - Madonna Inn is famous for the over-the-top colors and decorations adorning every inch of the property.
Every room is themed and decorated uniquely with things ranging from Gold Rush Pioneer to Victorian Roses.
You’ll definitely want to stop by for dinner at the Gold Rush Steak House for it’s ultra pink and rose forward vibes while golden cherubs watch you from the corners.
The Bar is also just as famous with it’s gilded pink barstools and matching carpet!
In addition, they have the coolest men’s and women’s bathrooms… you just have to see for yourself!
Apple Farm
For a great value and quaint experience, the Apple Farm Inn is just outside of downtown SLO.
The rooms are cozy, comfortable, and quiet with unique styles in each one.
One of the bonuses of staying here is being so close to the Apple Farm Restaurant & Bakery, which serves classic American food.
