Paris - Where To Stay (Best Hotels)

paris perfect

Picking a place to stay in Paris might seem overwhelming or stressful, but overall it’s best to pick something centrally located near the Louvre or near a landmark such as the Eiffel Tower.

We’ve visited Paris many times and stayed all over the city - here are some of the best hotels or places to stay in Paris:

Le Metropolitan

le Metropolitan zorymory thislifeoftravel

Located in the bustling Place de Mexico and conveniently within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower, the Le Metropolitan is an upscale hotel with excellent service, modern rooms, and one of the few in the area with an indoor pool and steam room.

The rooms are especially beautiful with large windows opening to spectacular views of Paris. The best rooms are the higher floor rooms that have windows directly facing the Eiffel Tower.

In case you’re wondering, the one with the Oval Window is called the Eiffel Suite and is located on the top floor. The rooms below this are called Eiffel View Suites - they don’t have oval windows, but they do have open-air balconies that face the Eiffel Tower.

Best For: View of the Eiffel Tower

Hotel Splendid Etoile

splendid etoile paris

For one of the most unique views of the Arc de Triomphe from your hotel room balcony, the Hotel Splendid Etoile offers several different rooms with this amazing view.

You can pick from a room that directly faces the Arc de Triomphe or several that have a view from the side. Both types are fantastic and will leave quite an impression on you!

To make sure you get a room with an Arc de Triomphe view, pick the ‘Privilege Room with View’. You can also get a view with the ‘Superior Double Room with Balcony’, but double-check with the hotel prior to booking that the balcony has a view of the Arc de Triomphe. Also, try to get a higher floor (3-5) to get the best view.

You can get breakfast sent to your room so you can start the day facing the beautiful Arc de Triomphe. I found myself hanging out on the balcony for much of the day and just absorbing in the magnificent view!

Best for: The View

Hotel Norman

Hotel Norman is a new boutique hotel with a cozy, intimate feel with a nod to the 1950’s and 1960’s of American modernism and Bauhaus influences.

The rooms evoke warmth with rosewood bed headboards, weathered leather, and vintage green colors. On top of that, the furnishings are luxurious yet tempered - you’ll feel right at home here.

Some of the best rooms include the two-story Sky Suite which has a beautiful sunrise view over Paris, and the Terrace Suite, which has a rooftop terrace. Both have stunning Eiffel Tower views from their balconies.

Also, the French don’t mess around when it comes to food and their incredible breakfast buffet shows their dedication to the craft!

Maison Mere

maison mere

Situated in one of our favorite areas of Paris (the 9th Arrondissement), Maison Mere is also lucky enough to be on a quiet pedestrian street so you don’t get the typical street noise while staying here.

We loved all the stylish design touches throughout the public areas of the hotel and inside the room. There was delicious, hot tea for guests in the lobby area - perfect for when we visited during the winter holidays!

Rooms were very comfortable with rain showers, honey based soap/shampoo, and an excellent view of the Parisian streets from the big windows.

Breakfast was one of our favorites with a large spread of fresh bread, cheese, fruit, jam, desserts, yogurt, and freshly made eggs and bacon. The breakfast attendant was especially cheery and friendly - we loved the service here!

Located in the up-and-coming Faubourg Montmartre district in the 9th arrondissement, Hotel Panache is in the perfect central location to explore much of Paris on foot or by metro. It’s also one of the best arrondissements to stay in Paris!

The hotel itself is playfully decorated with fun and stylish vintage elements such as Bauhaus light switches, vintage telephones, and Art Nouveau bedframes.

The enthusiastic staff is very helpful and speak many different languages, making it very friendly for international visitors staying here.

All the rooms here are unique in their own way, but if you’re lucky you’ll get one of the rooms on the corner with outdoor balconies facing the famous Parisian rooftops of the neighborhood.

Saint James

Saint James Paris recently underwent a major redesign and emerged with a bright new look with designer Laura Gonzalez in charge.

The rooms were upgraded with snazzy new flower print wallpapers with colorful and artistic furniture to match. More windows and space were added to each room by removing a number of rooms.

The steam room and pool area are a special highlight since they are especially large and feel sparkling new.

The Library Bar is very unique, as the hotel used to be a university. The original library (complete with antique books) is a great place to grab an afternoon drink or nighttime cocktail.

On nice days, the back garden area has a lovely covered gazebo that is worth visiting. It’ll make you feel like you have your own private chateau!

Previously the mansion of Prince Roland Bonaparte, great-nephew of Napoleon, the Shangri-La Paris is one of the most beautiful and famous luxury hotels in Paris.

The famous Chi spa is a major standout with its striking pool and world-class massage therapy program.

It’s also a total treat to dine in the outdoor terrace of the hotel restaurant since you’ll have a serene garden facing the Eiffel Tower as your backdrop.

Chateau Frontenac

chateau frontenac thislifeoftravel

Just one block from the dazzling Champs Elysee and walking distance to many of the other main attractions in Paris, the Chateau Frontenac is a great value for its location and balcony rooms.

Our room had a nice view of the Parisian rooftops along with a direct line of sight to the Eiffel Tower.

Even though we had a room facing the street, we didn’t hear much street noise, which is a bonus since I’m a light sleeper!

Hotel Les Deux Gares

Hotel Les Deux Gares

You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a Wes Anderson movie once you’ve entered the Hotel Les Deux Gares with its brightly colored walls, black and white tiled floorboards, and tastefully designed rooms.

Located a five-minute walk from Gare du Nord, this is a great location for those using the train station and willing to base themselves in an unconventional spot to explore Paris.

Rooms come in beautiful color combinations such as dusky pink and green while the bathrooms are colored in vintage pastel colors.

You’ll want to check out the Café les Deux Gares which is run by the same team and is full of French train paraphernalia.

Overall, this is one of the best values in Paris with rooms running around $125 a night.

If you want to stay in a fully furnished apartment rather than a hotel room, Paris Perfect is a great choice since they have a large selection of places all over Paris - many with wonderful views of landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower.

Each apartment is outfitted with beautiful decorations sourced from Paris flea markets, comfortable bedding, and a fully stocked kitchen.

Some of the units are quite large, so they are a great option for groups of friends or a family traveling together.

For one of the best views of the Eiffel Tower, we recommend the Margaux - which can house around 6-8 people comfortably. One of our favorite things about this unit is the incredible top floor wraparound balcony that has views of the Eiffel Tower. You’ll also have great views of the famous Parisian rooftops.

Another option, for a great central location, you can’t beat the Place Dauphine units. They are located on the Île de la Cité island on the Seine. We loved the Savennières - which is great for 1-2 people and has a beautiful balcony terrace overlooking the Place Dauphine park below.

There are many apartments in their collection of varying sizes, locations, and views - so make sure to browse their website to see which one resonates with you!
