The Wayfarer's Chapel was originally built to be a public resting area and over the years it came to be an official church holding religion services. But it’s probably most known for the number of weddings that are held here each year, to the count of 800 annually (300 from Japan). That yields 2.2 weddings a day!

It’s also made appearances in many TV shows like /90210/, /The O.C./, and /True Detective/.

Surrounding the chapel are large redwood trees that were planted over 50 years ago. Over time the grew to become the living roof and wall surrounding the whole chapel.

Interestingly, the official religion of the chapel is something called Swedenborgian. It’s a branch of Christianity that follows the teachings of Emmanuel Swedenborg, who was a Swedish Lutheran theologian, philosopher, and scientist. It’s a very welcoming church that lets anyone visit, offers Yoga classes, and dream interpretations.
