Viviane Restaurant - An Elegant Poolside Dinner
Visiting from San Francisco, we hardly ever get to dine outdoors at sunset without bundling up.. not the case in LA though, especially during summer! So at Viviane, located inside the fabulous Avalon Beverly Hills, dining poolside to the setting sun in shorts and t-shirt was a special treat for us. Just to make things even better, the food here was executed perfectly with bold flavors, vivid colors, and friendly service.

The standout dish was definitely the Pan Seared Scallops on top of Meyer Lemon Risotto. The scallops were huge and tasted outrageously fresh along with having a perfect sear. Risotto is sometimes hard to cook right, but they pulled this one off - the Meyer lemon flavor was just right too.
Succulent and juicy skirt steak on top of a perfectly seasoned creamy sunchoke puree - pretty much the perfect warm summer night dish. I loved the intense grilled flavor of the crushed tomatoes as well.
Yes we totally pigged out.
Who can turn down creamy, milk burrata paired with grilled summer peaches, prosciutto, and balsamic on top of grilled ciabatta? Not us...
Fresh Kumamoto Oysters? Yes, every time please.
Baby beet salad with quinoa, goat cheese, arugula and a balsamic vinaigrette - an outstanding salad which was gone in no time.
You've had tuna tartare before, but have you had it on top of a toasted taro chip slice before?
To end the meal, a delicious berry panna cotta that was sinfully rich with just the right amount of egginess and sweetness.
All in all, this was one of my more memorable meals where every dish was quite wonderful across the board. Make sure to bring something comfortable to lounge around in since there are some cushy poolside chaises that will beckon to you after dinner!
